First week of term 3
It has been delightful to see preschool and K1 together this week.
Unit of Inquiry
This week, we started our provocation looking at different communities.
- We discussed what is a community? How do they help us?
- We explored team building activities to make good connection with our preschool community.
Next week we will delve deeper into people who help us - See Talk4writing section for this.
Communication and language/ Phonics
Introduced sound of the week 's'
- Explored our classroom to find objects that starts with the sound
- Drew pictures to think of words that starts with the sound
- Formed the letter 's' and worked on our pencil grip
Next week: Sound of the week 'a'
Next week: Aspect 3 - Body percussion
Mathematics
This week was assessment week for both preschool and K1. We will continue our assessments next week. More details will be shared on Tapestry which is due next week on Friday.
Next week in K1 - We will inquire about patterns? Where can we find patterns? How many patterns can we find in our classroom? Read 'Pattern Fish' and identify patterns. Copy ABAB patterns and create our own.
Next week in preschool - Focus on counting numbers in order 1- 5 and 1-10 .
